Impact of Buying from the Northwest Food Hub Network

As supply and distribution chains broke down across the country, a region in rural Montana took matters into their own hands to ensure their communities had access to fresh, healthy food. The rapid rise of unemployment, combined with significant market losses for farmers in an area already facing widespread food insecurity, galvanized a multi-partner collaboration including Western Montana Growers Cooperative and Mission West Community Development Partners to tackle hunger and economic insecurity for farmers in Montana: The Montana Farmers to Families Food Box Project.
